At the Brian Klinefelter Foundation, we believe in supporting not only law enforcement officers currently serving our communities, but also inspiring the next generation to serve. Our annual scholarship program is among the ways we work to show appreciation of their work and promote this valuable career. Here’s a look at how those dollars are making a difference:
Deputy/Police Officer, Roseau Co. Sheriff’s Dept./Warroad Police Dept.
1998 Scholarship Recipient
After receiving the Brian Klinefelter Scholarship in 1998, Arlen received numerous awards for intelligence work and valor in combat during his decade of military service. Today, he works with the Roseau County Sheriff’s Department and Warroad Police Department. “I was very honored to receive the award considering Brian’s outstanding character.”
Police Officer, Pike Bay Police Dept.
2008 Scholarship Recipient
Bailey Miller used the Brian Klinefelter Scholarship to help her pursue her dream of being a police officer. She recently began her law enforcement career with the Pike Bay Police Department. She is involved in the local sporting events and has worked as the School Resource Officer at the Cass Lake-Bena Middle School. She gives this advice to youth interested in law enforcement: “You can achieve anything you set your mind to. Go for it and give it your all.”
Patrolman, Fergus Falls Police Dept.
2003 Scholarship Recipient
Matthew received the Brian Klinefelter Scholarship in 2003 before being honored with a lifesaving award and becoming a member of the Ottertail County Swat Team. He currently serves as a patrolman for the Fergus Falls Police Department. Matthew volunteers at his church, the local food shelf and tries to meet as many youth as he can in hopes of making a difference. “It meant a lot to be chosen from all of my peers and receive a memorial in honor of a man who I understand shared many of the same values as I do.”
